Remembering What’s Forgotten (RWF) is a 12-month, creative and heritage-inspired response to the overrepresentation of Black and South Asian men in inpatient wards, and their disproportionate detention under the Mental Health Act.
A co-produced hybrid programme, RWF aims to amplify the historically unheard community-based and lived experience narratives challenging mental health inequality, and the racial injustice facing black and minority ethnic communities in Leeds.
The narratives of nearly 60 people, covering 1974-2024, are being captured through audio, film, photography, photovoice, focus groups, poetry, art and curation, and will feature in a digital exhibition, to be launched in November 2024.
